Post-Adoption Counseling
For Families and Couples

Adoptions have increased exponentially since the passage of the Adoption and Safe Family Act (1997)... With the increase in adoptions in recent decades, families are in need of more services and support in order to help them thrive once formed."

POST-ADOPTION SUPPORT AND RESOURCES
FOR YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY

Every adoption situation is unique, just as the people touched by the adoption are unique.
Everyone will be affected by their adoption journey differently, and no two experiences are alike.

Adoption is is a lifelong exploration that can be filled with its own unique rewards and challenges
that you and your family will experience throughout the journey.

Counseling can help individuals and families to work through adoption-related issues.
We provide post-adoption counseling that is centered on wellness and interpersonal relationships.

Whether it is a traditional, kinship, transnational/transracial, or a LGBT family,
our adoption-competent counselors can provide specialized family counseling to provide professional
and specialized support and resources for families to help adjust, adapt, and grow together in a therapeutic setting.

Adoptive Families
Adoption does not end with the placement of the child — it is a lifelong process that is just beginning. We recognize the importance of continued support, guidance and assistance to all parties involved in an adoption.

Kinship Adoption
Placement with a relative or close friend is often the first choice by foster care workers when children cannot safely remain in their parents’ home or cannot be reunited with them.

LGBT Adoption
LGBT people become parents in a variety of ways including adoption, foster parenting, donor insemination, surrogacy, and from previous heterosexual relationships. LGBT families are creating new ways to live together.

Transnational Adoptions and
Transracial Adoptions

A special blending of cultures and ethnicities are seen within transnational and transracial adoptions. Although there are distinct differences between the two, both of these forms of adoption involve placing a child(ren) into a family who is ethnically and/or racially diverse.
